Grandmaster Y. K. Kim/Martial Arts World is sponsoring and presenting the U.S. National Exhibition Championships at Olympia High School on April 26 to benefit “The House of Hope,” a local organization that helps troubled teens.
In 2012, we wrote about Y. K. Kim establishing a base in central Florida after filming his movie Miami Connection. Kim is the brains behind the American TaeKwon-Do Federation and is a ninth degree black belt, which is the highest achievement one can accomplish in martial arts.
Today he makes his living as a central Florida motivational speaker and martial arts trainer. In addition to his local work, he established six Martial Arts World locations throughout the country. Kim’s next goal is to build a four-year Martial Arts University.
The U.S. National Exhibition Championships will be a stepping stone in gaining the recognition Kim needs to “revolutionize” the way we look at health and fitness.
So, come out and see some authentic kung fu, ju jitsu and muay tai, all rolled into one style called Modern Martial Arts, performed by students competing for a place in history under the guidance of Y. K. Kim. Maybe you’ll even get a chance to test the legend’s karate choppin’ grip when you shake his hand.
When: April 26, 6 p.m.
Where: Olympia High School, 4301 S. Apopka Vineland Rd.
Price: $9 in advance and $15 at the door.
