The Witch And The Hundred Knight Is Adorably Malicious

The new trailer for The Witch and the Hundred Knight was just leaked from the official press release for NIS America, Inc. and boy, does this game look sick. Protip: trailer located at the bottom of this post.

Players have no choice but to root for the dark side when quick-witted characters, the witch Metallia and her iron-clad Hundred Knight, go romping through their deliciously dark comedy. After doing some routine maintenance around the witch’s castle, the Hundred Knight can finally divest himself to household chores and venture out into the swamps of, and for, Medea. Players ultimately wield a 5-weapon load out to eliminate all who oppose Master Metallia in a full-throttle equipment heavy onslaught.

Our witch is not only an evil little twerp, in the trailer she almost appears endearing at times. Almost. So when players take on the guise of a metallic mini-bot (the Hundred Knight) and act as her go-to slave, they make sure her minions remember who the queen is, gaining rewards along the way.

Here we have, the Witch and the Hundred Knight encouraging players to turn up the audio on the game and tune into what the NPCs are saying, because the voice acting for this game is so over the top, it borders on Broadway (in a good way). An interesting mechanic allows players to customize roles for members of their party, too, and permits each of them to store their own items, instead of having some disembodied entity carrying them conveniently.

It’s all so cutesy, you can’t help but sympathize with the outlandish plans of these little demon fiends, making this game look like a blood sport mixed with silly J-Pop repartee to keep players grounded.

Gone are the days of Laharl and Etna’s clumsy meanderings in Disagaea–die-hard NIS fans can now seek new adventure and drill strange puppet master monsters in the new game, The Witch and the Hundred Knight, due to release for PS3 on March 21 in Europe, March 25 in the U.S.

While those with Vitas can play other games like Counter Strike or Skyrim through their console, there is no word as of yet whether they will bring this game over to the Xbox One or 3DS. The Witch and the Hundred Knight will be a Sony title exclusive at the launch.

“Right now, we don’t have any news on porting the game to any other consoles,” David Alonzo, Marketing Coordinator of NIS, said.”
